Classic Editor

Περιγραφή

Classic Editor is an official plugin maintained by the WordPress team that restores the previous («classic») WordPress editor and the «Edit Post» screen. It makes it possible to use plugins that extend that screen, add old-style meta boxes, or otherwise depend on the previous editor.

Classic Editor is an official WordPress plugin, and will be fully supported and maintained until at least 2022, or as long as is necessary.

At a glance, this plugin adds the following:

  • Administrators can select the default editor for all users.
  • Administrators can allow users to change their default editor.
  • When allowed, the users can choose which editor to use for each post.
  • Each post opens in the last editor used regardless of who edited it last. This is important for maintaining a consistent experience when editing content.

In addition, the Classic Editor plugin includes several filters that let other plugins control the settings, and the editor choice per post and per post type.

By default, this plugin hides all functionality available in the new Block Editor («Gutenberg»).

Thank you!

I can understand the block editor idea (I like it and prefer it) but you changed EVERYTHING at once. It took me a while just to figure out the top block is the official post title, and even longer to figure out the permalink edit functions. These were simple, self explanatory fields before. Also Gutenberg didn't seem to play well with SEO Press SEO. I also can't figure out how to hide fields like we can in classic editor with the "Screen Options" pull down. I'm reminded of the Window 8 fiasco where EVERYTHING was changed in one big release. I spent more (valuable) time trying to figure out the editor than writing and producing content. Before you claim it's just basic, free, open source software run by volunteers, it's not. I pay a lot for official Automatic plugins for our Woocommerce installs ($2500+ annually between our sites and multiple Automatic accounts) I now have to pay my writers their hourly rate to figure out the new work flow. Time is money. At least we have a classic version now (it sucks we have to add another plugin) to get some work done.

Life saver!!! – Gutenberg is a real farce

I was SO desperate with Gutenberg! With all its irrational complexity, it took all the fun away from blogging (I've loved blogging since 2012) and now could have stopped blogging just because of bloody Gutenberg. Gutenberg is the worst mistake in the whole life of WP! Thank God this plugin exists, my life is saved and blogging is fun again! I HATE when developers create these "cool" features (like Gutenberg) which nobody wants. I want something that works (like Classic Editor), not something awkward that developers think is "cool"! Please test your ideas first with real users and then develop them if people really want them!

Excelente

Para los que aun no nos acostumbramos de forma rapida al cambio este plugin es magnifico actualmente lo uso en mi blog de marcos de flores para fotos y marcha a la perfección. muchas gracias les dejo 5 estrellas

Thank you!!!

I hope WordPress doesn't hurry to impose Gutenberg on WP users by discontinuing their support for Classic Editor...
